Personal Statement
Jamal Cameron is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a decade of experience in mental healthcare. He received his MA in clinical psychology with an emphasis in Marital and Family Therapy from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology-Los Angeles. He received his BA in psychology from Western New England University.
With regard to clinical training, Jamal completed his practicum at The John Henry Foundation in Santa Ana, CA providing individual and group psychotherapy to people with schizophrenia spectrum illnesses. Jamal takes a client centered approach towards therapy with the goal of building good therapeutic relationship with clients to address problems they may be facing.
Jamal has also worked with adolescents, adults, families and the elderly dealing with various issues including: substance abuse, bipolar disorder, homelessness and has been apart of clinical research looking at abduction prevention strategies for children, parents and schools.
Jamal’s work has led him to take on advocacy/leadership roles related to assisting families with academic and legal concerns. Jamal’s passions have led him to trauma focused work and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Jamal is MAPS certified in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy and has been trained in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy as well.
