Do you have a client with mental illness who could use the support of a group?

Perhaps you have a female client feeling socially isolated and wanting more meaningful connection with others.

Group therapy could be a very effective supplement to the work you are doing with them.

There are currently openings in these Redwood City groups:

  • 1.       Life Beyond Mental Illness:  A weekly ongoing support/process group for people living independently with their mental illness.
  • Tuesdays 1-2:30 PM
  • This group will provide the opportunity for members to talk about topics that matter to them, such as:
  • family relationships
  • work-related issues
  • social isolation
  • stigma
  • hope for the future
  • defining goals

Furthermore, your client can be consistently observed by an additional professional who is part of their team.

  • 2.       Women in Transition:  A weekly ongoing group for women in transition.
  • If the member is in individual therapy (optional), I will collaborate with that therapist.
  • Wednesdays 6:30 – 8 PM
  • This group offers the opportunity to explore and embrace these possible challenges:
  • caring for parents
  •  losses of loved ones/status quo/youth/intimacy
  • divorce/separation/late marriage/ongoing single life/widowhood
  • empty nest/reconnecting with your partner
  • perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms
  • old job/new job/no job.

Social isolation is usually the common theme when dealing with these challenges.  Therefore, work is in the “here and now” to foster insight into behavior and thinking when interacting with others.   This group offers the opportunity to practice new ways of communicating in a safe environment.  Then these skills can be applied to create more meaningful relationships outside the group.

Furthermore, your client can be consistently observed by an additional professional who is part of their team.
