Santa Clara Valley CAMFT is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to its Website, www.scv-camft.org. The following statements describe the privacy and security practices of Santa Clara Valley CAMFT. Updated: 07/16/2016.

We utilize safeguards designed to protect the privacy of all personal and professional information that you provide to us. We will not use your information in any manner not previously disclosed in this privacy and security statement.

  • General Information Collection and Use
  • Anyone can visit Santa Clara Valley CAMFT's site without disclosing any personal information about themselves. We may track the Internet addresses of the individuals who visit our site to analyze trends, administer the site, and track user's movement within the site. This data is not linked to personally identifiable information. The information we collect is used to continually refine our Website and improve our services.

  • Personal and Professional Information — Members
  • When you apply for membership Santa Clara Valley CAMFT collects a wide range of information about you and your professional activities. Some of the information is used only for internal purposes. Other information is used to help you present your professional presence on the Internet and in our publications. We ask you to indicate which of your information is public and which is private.

    1. Therapist Search
      An important benefit of membership is the ability to be listed in our Online Therapist Search. This feature can be accessed by anybody that visits our Website. Of the information that you provide us, you can decide which information will be presented.

    2. Chapter Emails & Third-Party Marketing
      As part of our marketing and advertising offerings, Santa Clara Valley CAMFT allows members and third-parties to send a scheduled email to our members through our email service. There is a charge for this service (please see Advertisements on our main menu for guidelines). Third parties are advertisers interested in sending their marketing messages to members. If you wish to opt-out of just third-party mailings, please send a written request by using the green Help button on the bottom of any page.

  • Unsubscribe and Opt-Out
  • Marketing emails (those containing information about events, workshops, groups, etc) all contain a link at the bottom of the email that will allow you to use SafeUnsubscribe to unsubscribe from subsequent mailings. Please use this link to unsubscribe. This will remove you from the list entirely (please allow at least 10 days for the change to be implemented). You will not receive any more of these emails.

    Transactions and Membership Information
    When you register for an event, apply for membership, make changes to your membership or when we send out membership renewal notifications, these transactional emails are all automatically sent on a one-by-one basis based on the transaction or notification sent.

  • Personal and Professional Information — Others
  • Santa Clara Valley CAMFT collects basic contact information (such as name, address, phone number and e-mail address) when you register on our site to make a purchase, attend an event or advertise. We use this information for internal purposes only.

  • User Name and Password
  • You must enter your user name and password every time you access a restricted area of the Website. Your user name and password serve as your personal key to the restricted areas. The system is designed so that without this information, no other visitor can access your information.

  • Password Security
  • Please use best practices to protect your information by choosing a password at least 8 characters long, using upper and lower characters and at least one number. Passwords that contain your pet's name(s), children's names, address, phone or other easily obtained information are not secure. Members take responsibility for choosing and securing their passwords.

    If you forgot your password, a new one can be emailed to you. From the login page, click "Forgot Password" and enter your email address.    You will receive a password reset email.   Please check junk, spam and even trash on your email if you don[t receive the password reset within a few minutes.

    You may change your password at any time by visiting the member area.   Log in using your username and password and you will be able to make changes to your profile (including password).

    We do not have access to your password. Only you have access to your password.   We will NEVER ask you for your password.

  • Changing Your Personal and Professional Information
  • When you log on to the Website with your user name and password you make make changes to your personal and professional information.

  • Cookies
  • A cookie is a small text file, stored in memory on your computer, that can be read by our system when you return to our site. The cookies are encrypted and are used to keep track of you as you move through our site. Cookies can also provide you the ability to re-access a restricted area without retyping your password. While cookies allow you ease of use by entering your password less frequently, there are no functional differences if the site is accessed and used with the cookies disabled. We will not use cookies for any other purposes.

  • Paying for Services
  • When you enter into a financial transaction with us you can usually elect to pay by check or pay online. When you indicate that wish to pay by check, the transaction will not be completed until we have received your check and it has cleared the banking system.

    When you wish to pay online, we refer your transaction to our online merchant services provider or PayPal, Inc. The only information we send to the online merchant services provider is the amount you are paying and a transaction ID so that we can be informed when payment is made. You are then automatically transferred to the service provider's secure Website, where you enter sensitive data such as your bank card account number. When you do so your information is subject to the privacy and security policies of the online merchant services provider. We do not store credit card information on our site.

  • Network Vigilance
  • Santa Clara Valley CAMFT's hosting company uses safeguards designed to protect the privacy of all personal information.

  • External Links
  • Links to third-party sites are being provided as a convenience and are provided for informational purposes only; they do not constitute an endorsement or an approval by SCV-CAMFT, its board or members of any of the products, services or opinions of the corporation, business, practice, organization or individual.   • SCV-CAMFT reserves the right to accept or reject any advertisement submitted for SCV-CAMFT's publications and on its website(s). SCV-CAMFT disclaims any liability whatsoever in connection with advertising appearing in SCV-CAMFT´s publications and on its website(s).  Individual advertisers are responsible for complying with all regulations including BBS requirements for licensed therapists and Registered Interns.

  • Notification of Changes
  • If we make any changes to our privacy policy, we will post the changes on this page so you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time it was collected, we will notify you via e-mail. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. Consent will be deemed to have been given when we receive communication from you in response to our e-mail. If no such consent is given we will only use information in accordance with the privacy policy under which the information was collected.

  • Legal Service
  • Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose private information if and when required by law, including a subpoena, warrant or court order.
