Description
Presented by Sherry C. Wang, PhD
The presenter will also draw from empirical research that she has collected with Asian Americans at the start of the pandemic. Additionally, she will highlight the roots of anti-Asian sentiment and its ongoing manifestation, from microaggressions to overt violence, and historical and present-day experiences of racism. Attendees will learn about the ways in which their knowledge can improve their clinical work, teaching, research, outreach, and advocacy. That is, by better understanding the racial experiences of Asian Americans in the U.S. context, health care providers will be able to better understand the distinctiveness of what it is like to be Asian Americans in the U.S. context.
Learning Objectives

2. Describe two ways in which Asian American racial trauma is distinct from other racial groups.
3. List two ways in which racism operates as a system to suppress Asian Americans and Black Americans; and in turn, recognize how solidarity combats White supremacy
4. Identify one method of combatting anti-Asian violence in your personal and professional life.
