SCV-Exchange Terms of Use

The SCV-Exchange is our member only Google Group and is governed by the following terms and conditions of use. Your use of the SCV-Exchange constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions. Updated terms and conditions will be posted on the website and sent to the SCV-Exchange.

The purpose of this group is to provide a supportive space for SCV-CAMFT chapter members to network with one another, share referrals, exchange information relevant to mental health professionals, and provide professional and logistical support.

Some examples of appropriate usage of this group include:

  • Requesting referrals to practitioners with specific skill sets or within a specific geographical area
  • Seeking or offering office space or sublets
  • Requesting information on resources for a particular population
  • Requests for books, media, off-group consultation, or continuing education referrals on topics related to the mental health field
  • Seeking mental health employment
  • Announcing a new practice
  • Advertising a job opening in the Mental Health Field
  • Announcing a group, workshop, conference, or other similar event.
  • Announcing an advocacy effort related to mental health or seeking volunteers or resources for such an effort

General Rules

  • We reserve the right to remove any post that does not comply with these terms and conditions.
  • The SCV-Exchange is peer-moderated. SCV-CAMFT does not exert any editorial control, and does not take responsibility for the content.
  • An SCV-CAMFT chapter member may not post on behalf of someone who is not part of the chapter. For example, if a colleague who is not a chapter member is facilitating a therapy group, a chapter member may not post about the group in the SCV-Exchange.
  • If a non-chapter member would like to post on the Exchange, they can either become a registered member or work with the chapter to post a sponsored advertisement. To learn more about becoming a chapter or member or sponsored advertiser, please reach out to mail@scv-camft.org.
  • Content must be directly related to our work as mental health providers. Do not send virus warnings, jokes, petitions, political endorsements or other mass mailings.
  • Maintain a respectful tone towards those who may hold differing opinions. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal material is prohibited and will be removed.
  • Do not post about personal political stances or affiliations.
  • Do not post about events or organizations that have a political affiliation.
  • If you are posting about a job opening, please include the pay.
  • Promotional messages and announcements must be directly related to our work as mental health providers. If you are posting about ongoing (or upcoming) event, please limit your posts about this event to once per month.
  • When posting in the group, please add a few keywords in the subject line of your message so that members can quickly see whether the post is relevant to them. For example:
    • Not useful: Need family therapy referral
    • Useful: looking for family therapist, Santa Clara, Optum
    • Not useful: Upcoming training
    • Useful: TFCBT online training, June 1-3
  • Messages sent to the entire list must be valuable to the entire list. Messages such as "thanks for the information" or "me, too" should be sent to individuals, not to the entire list.
  • SCV-Exchange members cannot change their email address from the email address in their chapter profile. In doing so, you will be removed, and will need to request another invitation, using the email address in your chapter profile.

Legal and Ethical Considerations

  • When making a referral or seeking resources for a client or potential client, you must protect the client's confidentiality. Ask yourself, "If someone knew this person, could they possibly recognize him or her from these details?"
  • By posting to the SCV-Exchange, you grant SCV-Exchange users the non-exclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use any content of your email - including attachments or images.
  • Information posted on the SCV-Exchange is not considered private, and comments are subject to libel and slander laws.
  • Do not post messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects: prices, discounts, terms or conditions of sale or services, salaries, profits, profit margins, cost data, market shares, allocation of clients or territories, selection, rejection, or termination of clients or third-party payors. References to policies and practices regarding fees are allowable as long as no actual fees are disclosed.
  • Questions regarding legal, ethical, business or practice matters may be better served by asking a CAMFT attorney, which is available to all CAMFT chapter members.

Agreement to Terms and Conditions of Use

  • Your use of the SCV-Exchange constitutes agreements that you have read and understand the entire terms and conditions of use, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions for every email you send to the SCV-Exchange. If you have questions with regard to these terms and conditions, you can contact mail@scv-camft.org.
  • SCV-CAMFT reserves the right to remove any posts that are offensive, illegal, or don't comply with the terms stated within this document. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate the ability to use the SCV-Exchange, or suspend or terminate SCV-CAMFT membership for users who violate these terms and conditions. Members who have been terminated from the SCV-Exchange or SCV-CAMFT will have their cases reviewed by SCV-CAMFT's board of directors within 60 days.
