South Region Luncheon (1.5 CEUs available)
Presented by Suma Singh, MD
Board Certified, Addiction Medicine Fellow, Integrative Medicine

We hear a lot about opioid epidemic in the national news, but how does it pertain to us locally? Therapists are often the first point of contact for people with a substance use disorder. Get updated information on what's happening in our very own neighborhoods, local resources for your clients, and prevention efforts currently going on. The session will also include a brief training on naloxone for opioid overdose prevention. We will talk about evidence based treatments (medication, therapy, and community support) and current standard of care for substance abuse treatment.

About the Presenter
Dr. Singh is a Harvard and Stanford trained physician with 20+ years of clinical and research experience. She is an integrative physician who is a leader in Addiction Medicine. She is passionate about leveraging the advances of modern medicine, while staying rooted in a mind-body-spirit philosophy of health and healing.

In addition to her holistic private practice at Los Gatos Health, Dr. Singh also serves under-resourced and indigent patients through Santa Clara County Health and Hospital System, is a member of the Overdose Prevention Coalition, and a trainer for physicians and nurse practitioners in Medication Assisted Treatment. She is a strong advocate for improving access and quality of addiction treatment on local, state, and national levels.
