Are you curious about EMDR but not yet trained? This engaging 3-hour introductory workshop is designed for therapists who work with children and want to explore how EMDR can support healing from trauma, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. You’ll learn the core concepts of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), how it’s adapted for kids, and walk away with EMDR-informed tools and strategies you can begin using right away—while staying within your scope.

Through interactive discussion, real-life case examples, and playful interventions, you'll gain a foundational understanding of EMDR’s 8-phase model, the role of bilateral stimulation, and how resourcing and regulation skills can be integrated into your current work. Whether you're in play therapy, CBT, or other modalities, this workshop will help bridge your practice with trauma-informed, brain-based techniques that honor the unique needs of children.

***This workshop is not a substitute for full EMDR training. Instead, it introduces EMDR-informed resourcing and preparation strategies that are safe and ethical to integrate into child therapy, rooted in trauma-informed care.***

Program Goal

Learn playful, brain-based tools inspired by EMDR to support children’s healing and regulation—even if you’re not EMDR trained.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the purpose of EMDR’s Phase 2 and how it supports child regulation.
  2. Identify at least three EMDR-informed resourcing activities for use with children.
  3. Demonstrate how to introduce Calm/Happy/Safe Place to a child client.
